New Mexico holds some of the worst methane pollutions in the country with 1.1 million metric tons of methane being released into the air. Through venting, flaring, and leaks, this excess methane is costing the state an estimated $43 million in lost revenue every year. Nationally, this contributes to costs of about 250 billion a year. In both state and national efforts, we can help boost the economy with sensible efforts.
